Trond Johnsen appointed new Centre Director

As of November 1st 2018, Trond Johnsen from SINTEF Ocean takes over as Centre Director after Per Magne Einang retired.

Trond Johnsen holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Economics and Technology Managenment from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology from 2006.

He has held various positions within the Norwegian Marine Technology Research Institute (MARINTEK), performing research and innovation projects in collaboration with major players in the maritime industry. MARINTEK became part of SINTEF (the largest independent research institute in Scandinavia) in 2017. 

Currently, Trond Johnsen is a Research Manager in SINTEF Ocean, leading the Maritime Transport Systems group. This group focuses on logistics simulation and optimization, as well as digital and autonomous shipping.



Per Magne Einang has been the Centre Director since SFI Smart Maritime was established in 2015. Thanks to his constant effort to support interests of industrial partners, SFI Smart Maritime is today supported by a network of competent, motivated and fearless representatives of the Norwegian maritime cluster. Trond Johnsen will continue this effort and ensure that R&D-Industry cooperation leads to more concretisation of innovation.
